Businesses in the community can partner with Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office to share video from their place of business. This allows first responders insight into the emergencies they are responding to. The program is called Protected Places.
When there is an emergency at a business that is a part of Protected Places, our real-time information system looks at the map for available cameras in the area. If cameras are found, real-time analysts relay the information to responders. This provides responders with key information about the incident.
Key Facts
- Businesses control which cameras they share
- No camera footage is stored by Cabarrus County
- Sharing video is a voluntary way to increase security in the community
Visit Protected Places for more information and to sign up for the program.
